The construction of tree volume table for Gmelina arborea in The Forest District of Subanjeriji, South Sumatera is aimed to improve the estimation standing-tree volume in forest inventory and to improve computing annual cutting as reguler.
Two kind of regression equation have been used for estimation of clearbole volume, namely v = f ( d ) and V = f( d, h), respectively, where : V= clearbole volume (m3), d= stem diameter at breast height (cm), h = high of crownbase (m). The use of the former volume table was construct by means of an assumed average stem form factor may cause a considerable error.
The regression equation have selected to construct tree volume tables were : log v = -2.9095 + 1.8487 log d -5.9698((1/d) and log v = -4.1744 log + 1.955log d + 0.7938 log h, with standard error of estimation of 8.96% and 6.05%. The use of height of crownbase besides of diameter at breast height as independent variable increases the precision of estimation of 2.91%.
For the requirement measurement of efficiency in forest inventory, however that may be for practical point of view it is suggested to use the volume tables constructed by using v = f (d).
